What is the full form of BPL?
1) BPL: Below Poverty Line
The full form of BPL is the Below Poverty Line, which means very backward people from the economic point of view. It is used by the Government of India to take stock of the economic situation and to identify such people who need help from the government. Below Poverty Line refers to an annual income. People whose income is less than this limit, they are considered poor or below the poor line. The limit is determined using a number of parameters that differ in each state. The current criterion is based on a survey conducted in 2002. The Indian government hasn’t conducted a new survey for a decade. Hence the government is not dependent on the criteria to identify BPL families.
Internationally, per capita income per purchasing power parity is defined as extremely poor. According to this estimate, about 12.4% of Indians are extremely poor. The income-based poverty line considers the minimum income to meet basic food needs, it does not consider other essential elements such as medical care and education. The government launched several schemes to help the BPL section to meet their basic needs, such as food, housing, and clothing. According to the committee headed by C Rangarajan (Former RBI Governor), in 2011-12, about 30% of the total population of India lived in poverty. Some groups especially Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes people are in poverty, families who have BPL ration cards will get 25 to 30 kg of food.

3) BPL: Bum Pe Laat
BPL stands for Bum Pe Laat, it is a Hindi sentence that means kick on hips. This dialogue was first done in Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara move by Abhay Deol to Hritik Roshan to create a comedy scene. When Hritik Roshan slaps Farhan Akhtar in this movie, Abhay Deol explains the reason for their fight.
